Nedson Pophiwa
Nedson Pophiwa is a Senior Lecturer at the Wits School of Governance with a career spanning over a decade in the private, public and academic sectors. An economic historian by training, he uses contemporary history methods and inter-disciplinary social science approaches to unpack current trends and challenges in governance, public policy and development. His current research focuses on public-private partnerships in student housing as part of his broader interest in understanding the transition in state-society relations in contemporary Africa. Nedson’s research initiatives cover various African countries, including South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Uganda.
