Isabel Casimiro
A researcher at the Centre of African Studies, Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique, currently teaching and directing the Department of Development Studies and Gender. She co-founded Women and Law in Southern Africa Research and Education Trust, WLSA in 1988 and Fórum Mulher in 1993. From 1995 to 1999, she was a Member of Parliament on behalf of the Frelimo party. Casimiro has been President of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) since 2018. Her books include “Peace on Earth, War at Home”: Feminism and Women’s Organizations in Mozambique (2004), reedited in Brazil, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2014) and African Women’s Movements: Changing Political Landscapes (2009), co-authored with Aili Mari Tripp, Joy Kwesiga and Alice Mungwa.
