Nkem Agunwa is an adept communicator and digital campaigner with a decade’s experience in national and international organisations, and is currently the Africa Programme Manager of WITNESS. She works as a human rights activist, engaged in freedom of expression, state violence, democracy, and good governance. Nkem supports activists, advocates, and legal experts across Africa to leverage the power of video and technology to defend human rights. She also supports the development of counter-narratives, upholding human rights values, advocating for change, and countering manipulated media that undermines the trustworthiness of video evidence. Nkem contributes thought leadership on the threats of mis/disinformation in Africa and the necessity of prioritising solutions relevant to communities most affected.
