Hoda Elsadda

Hoda Elsadda is a feminist and an activist for women’s rights.  She is Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Cairo University, and previously held a Chair in Contemporary Arab World Studies at Manchester University, and was Co-Director of the Centre for the Advanced Study of the Arab World in the UK. She co-founded the Women and Memory Forum in 1995 and is currently Chair of the Board. She is working with the Arab Council for Social Sciences, and the American University in Beirut to establish a Gender Arab Oral History Archive. Her research interests are in the areas of gender studies and comparative literature, and is author of Gender, Nation and the Arabic Novel: Egypt: 1892-2008  (Edinburgh UP and Syracuse UP, 2012).
